May Newsletter

It’s hard to believe that the end of the school year is fast approaching!  We hope you enjoyed the Spring Tea.  The children were very excited to pass out the cards and flower pots they made.  They did a great job singing, “I’m a Little Teapot” and the “I Love Mommy, I Love Daddy” song!

Now that we’re spending more time outdoors, please make certain that your child wears comfortable, supportive, slip resistant shoes or sandals to school or has a change of shoes in his/her backpack.  Thanks

The end of the year schedule for preschool is as follows:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday students:  The last day of school is Wednesday, June 24th.  We will have an end-of-the-year celebration from 11-12.  Parents are invited.  The morning and afternoon extended day program will be held on the 24th.

Tuesday/Thursday students:  The last day of school is Thursday, June 25th.  We will have an end-of-the-year celebration from 11-12.  Parents are invited.  The afternoon extended day program will not be held on the 25th.  All preschoolers will be dismissed at noon.

If your child attends both classes, his/her last day will be Thursday, June 25th with a noon dismissal.  For parents who had their child in our class last year, please note that there is a change to the schedule for the last day of school.

Themes

We recently started our “Butterflies” theme.  The children will explore symmetry in art.  They’ll use eyedroppers to paint a paper butterfly that’s folded in half and watch the “magic” when they open it up!  They’ll also make butterflies out of coffee filters, colored water and eyedroppers.

During center time, the children will have the opportunity to complete a butterfly puzzle, look at books about caterpillars and butterflies, use butterfly stencils in their journal and/or paint a butterfly at the easel.  During read aloud, the students will listen to stories about caterpillars and butterflies such as, What Will I Be? by Nicola Davies and Butterfly Butterfly:  A Book of Colors by Petr Horacek.
