Green Days!

Since the color of the month for December was green, we had "Green Days" on Monday, December 19th and Tuesday, December 20th! The children wore something green and/or brought in something green from home to show to their friends.

Harvest Feast

We hope your family enjoyed the Harvest Feast as much as I did! The children did a wonderful job singing the songs "Hello, Mr. Turkey" and "Let's Be Thankful". They also did very well at sharing what they are thankful for and decorating their Thankful Tree. The pumpkin bread, corn muffins and fruit dip that the children made were delicious! Thanks to everyone who brought food, and most of all, thanks for being a part of this very special event!

Orange Day Fun!

We had a lot of fun on Orange Day! During center time, the children had the opportunity to make pumpkins out of orange playdough, mix red and yellow paint to paint pumpkins at the easel, and make pictures using stamps and orange stamp pads.

The children also explored a mixture of corn starch and water called oobleck. We mixed orange food coloring into the water before adding it to the corn starch. The children truly enjoyed this activity!

Orange Day was a big hit!

Apples Up On Top!

Last week, I read Ten Apples Up On Top! by Dr. Seuss. The children answered questions and made predictions about the story. Afterwards, each child used one-to-one correspondence to count out paper apples to put on top of their picture. The children enjoyed this activity and the pictures look adorable on the bulletin board!

Time to make the playdough!

Whereas the color of the month for October is orange, Mrs. P had the children help her make orange playdough for the class. Each child added two ingredients and stirred the dough while everyone sang "Stirring and Stirring and Stirring our Dough" (sung to the tune of "Stirring our Brew").

This was a great language building activity and the children got to see what happens when you mix the colors red and yellow.

September Happenings

In addition to our "All About Me" theme, the children have been exploring the color red. The children filled up the block letters R-E-D with red pom poms, crinkle paper, foam shapes and/or glitter.

They also discovered what happens when you mix red food coloring with white shaving cream. After mixing with a popsicle stick, they practiced writing letters and drawing in the shaving cream. As you can see by their faces, they truly enjoyed this activity!

End of Year Fun!

The children truly enjoyed our Outdoor Days last Monday and Tuesday!  They had fun with bubbles, squirt bottles and parachute play!

They were so surprised to see the water table outside!

It was a beautiful day to eat our special snack outdoors!

Miss Robyn, Miss Diane and I want to thank you for all of the help you've given us this year!  We enjoyed watching the children grow in many ways!  Best wishes for a happy and healthy summer!

Lindsay and Her Puppet Pals

On Friday, May 20th, the children visited the art room for a puppet show. Lindsay's humor, larger than life puppets and highly engaging short stories made for a delightful show!

It was truly a memorable day!

Pajama Day!

Pajama Day was a big hit! The children had a special snack and listened to a story while sitting on comforters.  Miss Robyn read, The Napping House by Audrey Wood to the Thursday class and I read, Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown to the Friday class.

The children played "Flashlight I Spy" for their circle time game. Each child was given a clue (e.g., "I Spy something you use to brush your teeth before you go to bed.") and used a flashlight to search for the item in the classroom.

The children made night time pictures for their Fun Tables activity. They glued paper stars and a moon (full or crescent) onto black construction paper and then they used white chalk to draw their own pictures.
