Rain and Rainbows

There are so many wonderful activities that can be done as part of the Rain and Rainbows theme! Although I wish we had more time to spend on this theme, the children certainly enjoyed the activities they completed!

Each child used water, shaving cream, blue water and eyedroppers to make a rain cloud in a cup. I explained that the water is like the air and the shaving cream is like the clouds. As the clouds get saturated, they produce rain.

The children watched as the rain fell down from the clouds!

The children also made rain clouds out of wood shapes, string, cardstock, cotton balls and black glitter.  They look amazing on the bulletin board!

The Rainbow Milk experiment is always a winner!  The children poured whole milk into a pan and then the teacher added drops of food coloring.  When they put a droplet of Dawn in the milk, they watched the colors explode as the detergent interacted with the fat molecules in the whole milk!
