Reading Buddies!

We were very excited to have Mrs. Roger's class visit our classroom on Thursday, December 13th!  The preschoolers enjoyed listening to stories read by the kindergarteners.

We hope you have a wonderful New Year!

Harvest Feast 2018!

I want to thank all of you for helping me with our annual Harvest Feast.  It was truly an amazing event!  The children did a fabulous job singing their songs and sharing what they're thankful for.  They were very excited to have you try the corn muffins that they made!  I had the children make placemats so that you'd have something to remember this special day!

Happy Halloween

We had a fun-filled day on Halloween!  The children had a special snack and then played Jack-o-Lantern Bowling, the Candy Corn Balance Game and Jack-o-Lantern Ring Toss.

After playing games, they got ready to go on their Halloween Parade.  They looked adorable in their costumes!

And we're off!

It was a wonderful day!

Rainy Day Fun!

There were several days lately when the weather wasn't cooperating, so we had recess inside.  We set up various stations in the classroom across the hall.  The children enjoyed jumping on the mini trampoline, crawling through the tunnel, using hula hoops, using the wooden rocking boat and jumping forward through hoops.  After spending time in the stations, we put on the Freeze Song by The Kiboomers while the children played Freeze Dance.  It was a lot of fun!

Sensational September!

The school year is off to a great start!  The children are learning the schedule and routines in their new preschool classroom.  The theme for the beginning of the year was "All About Me".  At the end of last week, we started our "Signs of Fall" theme with a brainstorming activity.  It's sure to be a fun fall in our class!

The children have been enjoying navigating through the obstacle courses
set up by Mrs. O'Leary on Tuesdays.

We made the best of a rainy day by setting up stations in the music room to practice gross motor skills.

We've been having a lot of fun using the equipment and playing games on the preschool playground!

The color of the month is red.  We used string, paper doilies, colored pasta and other red materials to make collages.

The name puzzles were a big hit!  We're keeping them at school so that we can use them again.

Our Meet Me bulletin board looks fabulous!

Today the children put apple puzzles together.  They also listened to the story One Little,
Two Little, Three Little Apples by Matt Ringler.

Kindergarten Here We Come!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful summer!  Before my students left for the summer break, they participated in several activities that helped familiarize them with some of the teachers and classrooms that they'll see in kindergarten.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the library!  Mrs. DeFrank read us a Splat the Cat story.

We ate in the cafeteria three days in a row!

Miss Swanson let us use instruments while singing some familiar songs!  Our visit to the music room was great fun!

We used oil pastels to draw pictures in the art room!  Ms. Duchak loved our creations!

We visited two different kindergarten classrooms.  Mrs. Rogers read us a story about going to kindergarten.  Many thanks to all of the teachers who helped us become more familiar with what we'll be doing in September!

Our Beautiful Butterflies!

Our class observed five caterpillars change into butterflies!  This week we let them go free!  It was hard to say "goodbye", but we feel very lucky to have witnessed this amazing transformation!

Our Beautiful Bulletin Boards!

Whereas the Open House at the beginning of the month was postponed due to weather, you may not have had a chance to see the beautiful work on our bulletin boards.

The children had Pajama Day at the end of February.  They used chalk and paper moons and stars to make nighttime pictures.

After talking about dreams, the children were given the following sentence starter:
"My dream was about..."
The teachers wrote down their responses and the children drew pictures of their dreams.

The children had a lot of fun making "Mrs. LeBlanc's School of Fish" for the hallway bulletin board!  They painted paper plates blue and then used their handprints to make fish.  They look amazing!
Many thanks to Miss Healey for her artwork!
