Halloween Happenings

The learning activities pertaining to Halloween proved to be a big hit with my students!

During center time, they had the opportunity to paint a ghost, bat and/or jack o' lantern at the easel.  The children who painted a jack o' lantern had a lot of fun color mixing!

During Fun Tables, they combined dry ingredients (flour and salt) and wet ingredients (water and food coloring) to make orange baker's clay.  They pressed or rolled out their dough and used cookie cutters to make bats, ghosts, cats, jack o' lanterns and other Halloween items.  They were very excited to bring their clay home!

They used cotton balls, lima beans and foam Halloween shapes to make haunted houses!

Happy Halloween!

October "Fun Tables"

Our preschoolers participate in daily "Fun Tables" activities in which they practice fine motor skills, explore science and math, make crafts, as well as develop many other skills.

In connection with our "Signs of Fall" theme, they crumpled and glued red, orange and yellow tissue paper to make beautiful, fall trees!

They learned several vocabulary words pertaining to the anatomy of a pumpkin, such as the lid, pulp and ribs.  They explored the inside and outside of a real pumpkin and then used construction paper, crepe paper and real pumpkin seeds to make something that looks like the inside of a pumpkin.

October 17th and 18th were "Circle Days"!  The children practiced tracing the letter C and used circle stickers to fill up their gumball machines.  They look adorable on the bulletin board!
