Spectacular Sunflowers!

After listening to, Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert, the children made small sunflowers for their springtime books and large sunflowers for the bulletin board. They began by painting paper plates yellow.

After the paint dried, they practiced cutting on a guideline to make a few petals.

They glued brown circles onto the center of the plates.

They also glued real sunflower seeds on top of the brown paper.

The large sunflowers look beautiful on the bulletin board!

Signs of Spring

Last week, we began our "Signs of Spring" theme. Before reading the book, When Spring Comes by Kevin Henkes, I told the class to look for signs of spring in the story.  After reading the story, I asked the essential question, "How do we know it's spring?" The children shared there ideas and I wrote them down on chart paper.  They did a great job with this activity!

Egg Hunt

The children did a great job using cookie cutters, paint and glitter to decorate bags for their eggs!

After listening to the story, We're Going on an Egg Hunt by Laine Mitchell, the children went on their own egg hunt! The Tuesday class looked for eggs in the library.

The Wednesday class was excited to find eggs in the music room!

The children looked adorable in their rabbit ears!

It was a very fun day!
