The Mitten

In connection with our "Mittens" theme, the children engaged in a role play activity while listening to The Mitten, adapted and illustrated by Jan Brett. Each child played the role of one of the animals in the story.

We used a white sheet to represent the mitten! The child playing the rabbit wiggled into the mitten and the child acting as the owl swooped down into the mitten.  The bear nosed his/her way in. Everyone had fun pretending to sneeze like the bear and scattering the animals in all directions!

For Fun Tables, the children colored the animals from the story and glued them onto their mitten. Some of the children reviewed the story with me and glued the animals on in the order in which they appear in the story. They all did a great job!
